Nural and the KS500

Beitragvon _Zundappitis » 14 Feb 2013: 07 34

Good day everyone,
I am writing to find out what relationship the piston company Nural had to the KS500. I have a 1936 KS500 and a 1937 KS500. They are identical, as far as I can tell, in all aspects except that the 1936 model has the name Nural embossed on the lower left side of the motor case. Did Nural make all the engine cases for the KS500s from 1936 to 1939, or was 1936 a special year? I believe I can find a photo to post if need be. I am curious as to why the name appears on the '36 model and not on any of the other year models. Was Nural a sub-contractor? My knowledge of other Zuendapp models is somewhat limited, but I have never seen the Nural name on any of my KS600s, or K800s or any of the two strokes so was a bit curious. Thank you all for your time. This is a great site.

I have heard back from another owner of a 1936 KS500 and he states that his machine does not have the Nural Branding embossed on the engine case. So I am attaching a photo of the mark in hopes someone can shed some light on this subject.
